I was 12 when I found an old black carousel horse in a flea market in Bogota and I’ve known since then I wanted to start a lifestyle brand. Well, not exactly. I didn’t have it all figured out back then but I craved to bring back all the treasures I discovered and create a far away world in my own small bedroom I shared with my sister back in Virginia. My parents didn’t let me bring the horse back (because that would have been ridiculous) but the urge to travel and shop never waned.
After taking a couple classes in fashion design in Milan and graduating from FIT in NY, I set off to join corporate America. To say the least, I really didn’t fit in. The politics and bureaucracy were tiring and I had a strange feeling I had digressed back to elementary school only this time I received a small paycheck instead of a report card.
I took a leap of faith and set out on the wonderful and scary adventure of starting a business knowing full well if my ambitious plan fell to pieces, elbowing my way back into the highly competitive fashion industry in New York would be near impossible.
That was 2 years ago, and now after all the joy and growing pains of actualizing a dream, I’m launching my t-shirt line for the fall and winter of 2010 with fashion and home accessories soon to follow. Which leads us to my long and somehow sidetracked point: the reason for this blog. This blog is to document and share small bits of the treasures I collect in my adventures. I hope you enjoy your visit and that you feel free to comment or send me a note.
